For the Spring-Summer 2010 RTW runway, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup created fun temporary tattoos - very Sailor Jerry and, at the same time, surprisingly elegant - dubbed Les Trompe L’Oeil de Chanel Temporary Skin Art. “For the show, I wanted to play with the Chanel symbols," explains Philips, who focused on a natural makeup look with chic beige tones and a tattooed touch of rebelliousness. (Lily Allen, Daisy Lowe, and Sarah Jessica Parker have all tried the trend; SJP completed her head-to-toe Chanel Couture ensemble on the 2010 Oscar red carpet with a temporary Chanel wrist tattoo mixed in amongst her stack of bangles.) "Pearls, chains and wheat, as well as blossoms and small swallows that announce the arrival of spring." The 55 temporary tattoos were originally hand-drawn by Philips, and can be yours for $75 for a package of 5 sheets from Chanel.com.
For around $10 a set (includes around 8 tattoos), INKWEAR has a wide selection of comparable designs, sizes, and colors:
Not the dull, fragile "end-of-the-pier" transfer tattoos from your childhood, these utilize cutting edge materials and technology for a realistically-detailed look that's both fun and durable.
