A Fun New Fashion Documentary ULTRASUEDE Goes In Search of Halston
Take a fabulous, fun-and-fact-filled journey through the life and times of one of the top celeb designers of the 70s. ULTRASUEDE: IN SEARCH OF HALSTON is a new documentary by Whitney Sudler-Smith. Two years in the making, it combines a prodigious amount of archival footage combined with still-stunning photographs brought to thrilling life through imaginative 3D effects. There is also a fabulous array of interviews with various cohorts, commentators, witnesses, and survivors of Halston’s empire including: Andre Leon Talley of Vogue; Liza Minnelli (his bestie); two of his leading models, Anjelica Huston and Pat Cleveland; fellow designers Diane von Furstenberg, Stephen Burrows, Naeem Khan, and Ralph Rucci; musicians Billy Joel and Nile Rogers (both of whom used “Halston” as a lyric in hit songs); journalists Bob Colacello and Glenn O’Brien (of Andy Warhol’s Interview), Jim Moore of GQ, Cathy Horyn of the New York Times, and Amy Fine Collins of Vanity Fair.
Ultrasuede will premiere on Friday, April at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, and as as part of the festival's "Tribeca Talks", will be followed by a panel including Talley, Smith, Cleveland, and Rucci.
