It's well known how much cooler most things Canadian are, and now, that also includes their hotel-staff fashion. OPUS Hotels recently partnered with Vancouver-based John Fluevog on the "Porter" Shoe, funky two-tone footwear fabulousness exclusively for the valets and male guest-service associates of the hotel properties. "It was an idea that originated a couple of years ago, and as time went on it was more of a question of 'why haven't we done this yet,'" says Fluevog. "The fit seemed right as it was a collaboration between two brands that are true to their West Coast origin, even if it's subtle. Additionally, both organizations have a loyal following and neither are afraid of a splash, a dash, or a pop here and there."
The designer and the President and CEO of OPUS Hotels, John deC. Evans tirelessly mixed children's paints until the perfect, pleasing "OPUS/Fluevog/Porteresque" shoe hue appeared. "As we went back and forth," continues Fluevog, "it was clear that the ideal shoe would be sharp, classy and well-made, but also have a little bit of cheek. The shoe's pink upper lets guests know that their stay and the service will be of the highest quality, but that it's still alright to relax and have a wink of fun here and there."
The Porter is available at the North American Fluevog shoe stores and is listed for sale on the OPUS Hotels' mini-bar menus.
