Innovate, Fixate, Celebrate! Le Metier de Beaute
métier (me-ty¯a): A skill requiring artistry, a person’s strength or special abilities, one’s calling, one’s passion, one’s craftI first discovered Le Metier Beaute when it debuted at Henri Bendel at their Press event in January of 2008. As swag, the Company gave out a mini version and the most flawless black felt tip eyeliner - the best I had/have ever encountered, and, of course, still one of their top sellers today.
I am not alone in my love for Le Metier Beaute's The Precision Liquid Eyeliner:
“The Precision Liquid Eyeliner from Le Métier de Beauté is the best liner I’ve ever used. It’s extremely user-friendly and not intimidating to the everyday woman. The unique applicator tip gives the most precise, controlled line, and the formula really lasts and is smudge-proof.I used it on Michelle Monaghan at a recent shoot and it looked flawless. It’s like using a Sharpie on your eye, it’s that precise and clear.” - Kristin Gallegos, Makeup Artist“It’s important for me to have tools that can create multiple looks - so I can be as pared down and efficient as possible, especially when I have to travel with my kit. I love this liner because it offers total controlled thickness of the eye line - as well as the darkness of the shade- allowing me to create both a smudge-free natural look and a dramatic look with just one pen.” - Irina Krupnik, Makeup Artist, John Barrett Salon
“To add a little pizzazz to your look, swap your basic eyeliner with a blue or green. Le Métier De Beauté’s Precision Liquid Eyeliner stays put and gives clean, buildable color. The quill-like tip is both precise and very easy to use. The stronger the color statement, the softer and simpler the rest of the face should be. You want to look vibrant and fun, not garish and loud.” - Vanessa Scali, Makeup A
The founders of Le Métier de Beauté, President and CEO of Bergdorf Goodman, Jim Gold, Erica Reid, Antonio "L.A." Reid (three-time Grammy Award-winning record executive and president of Def Jam, who is credited for signing and helping bring Mariah Carey, Avril Lavigne,Toni Braxton, Usher, Ciara, OutKast, Dido, Kerli and Pink), and President, Joanna Vorachek-Austin collectively worked in the beauty and fashion industry for more than 40 years. Backstage at runway shows and photo shoots, they noticed top makeup artists using an unmarked, unbranded black pot of makeup – and raving about it. Curious, they researched and tracked the anonymous product back to its origin: a small, independent lab with an ingenious chemist who took meticulous care, paid extraordinary attention to detail, and spared no expense to craft.
Working side by side with this team, the founders brought together the best and most innovative ingredients, technologies, manufacturing and packaging.
Shortly thereafter, they moved to Bergdorf Goodman in NY and developed a cult status among chic women, and celebrities including Halle Barry, all of whom demanded a luxury product that was worth every penny like cult-fave The Blonzer - a bronzer that flatters all skins, the most luxurious lip and eye shadows on the planet, and collectible holiday palettes.
It appears that I will have a new obsession, and Fashiontribes is first with the 411 straight from Joanna Vorachek-Austin: "We can let you know that we are about to announce a collaboration between celeb-fave fashion-house Marchesa and Le Metier de Beauté. Rumor has it the formal announcement will come out next week. Both brands share a dedication to craftsmanship – expect to see Marchesa’s signature whimsical style combined with LMDB’s cult-favorite luxury products. Also, last week LMDB’s Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe launched at Bergdorf Goodman and literally sold out in one day. It hit counters late Wednesday and sold out by mid afternoon Thursday – less than 24 hours on counter! There is now a waiting list both at counter and online. Since this is probably our biggest launch since the launch of the brand, this is fantastic news."HOW IT WORKS Thanks to new TPM (tocopheryl phosphate mixture) technology, Le Métier de Beauté is able to offer a product that not only delivers a potent level of Retinol, but also reduces the negative skin reactions usually associated with the ingredient. A derivative of Vitamin A, Retinol is renowned for correcting wrinkles and skin discolorations. However, it is also a powerful cell disruptor, and when used by itself topically on skin, it attacks skin cells, causing inflammation, skin thinning, redness and sensitivity to the sun. The TPM actually acts as an encapsulating vessel for Retinol, forming a protective barrier, carrying the Retinol past the stratum corneum to the deepest where it is most effective. Additionally, TPM’s unique anti-inflammatory characteristics add extra skin soothing protection. Results are two-fold: because the Retinol is protected, more is able to be absorbed where you need it most, while TPM, and its protective qualities, prevent irritation.
"The TPM delivery technology has far-reaching medical ramifications, drastically improving upon the effectiveness and localization of traditional drugs” says Dr. Esra Ogru, Chief Operating Officer of Phosphagenics, one of Le Métier de Beauté’s chemist partners. “The TPM technology truly expands the realm of medical possibilities, and we’ re thrilled to be bringing it to Le Métier de Beauté’s consumer in the US market."
CLINICALLY PROVEN RESULTS Clinical trials were conducted over the last five years to prove the effectiveness of TPM as a delivery system. Studies prove that in as little as a week of daily use of Peau de Vierge with TPM+Retinol, users will notice fewer wrinkles, smoother skin, lightened discolorations, tighter pores and a reduction of sun damage. The products have also been proven to have a positive effect on Rosacea, helping to reduce skin redness.
