In the opening minutes of the new fash-dish documentary, The September Issue, editrix-not-of-the-people Anna Wintour remarks: "Just because you like to put on a beautiful Carolina Herrera dress or a pair of J Brand blue jeans instead of something basic from K-Mart doesn't mean you're a dumb person." Very true, given how smart the brand is to have hooked up with insider-fave designer Hussein Chalayan. They recently debuted their second collaboration at the Hussein Chalayan S/S 2010 show in Paris, where J Brand pieces walked the runway for the first time - including a denim pencil skirt and Capri pant.
“Translating the language, themes and styles of our main-line S/S 10 collection directly into J Brand denim has been an exciting progression in our collaboration, giving us the opportunity to further continue the hybrid aesthetic of our brand," notes Chalayan, to which Jeff Rudes, co-founder of J Brand adds: "The Spring/Summer 2010 J Brand/Hussein Chalayan collection is not only capturing the momentum of the success of the Fall 2009 launch, but is also taking the collaboration to the next level."
And where might this "next level" lie?
In a land of "high-concept inventive design, with innovative fit, wash, and fabric techniques." Translation: body-con legging styles, lightweight twill fabrics, both neutral and pop colors, and the addition of the multi-layered "twister" fashion wash. Available in December 2009 - purchasing info at JBrandJeans.com.
