Chanel Beige: What Color Beige Are You?
Favored by fashionistas and perfumistas alike, Les Exclusifs de Chanel is a collection of identically bottled "rare fragrances" composed by Coco Chanel's exclusive perfume creator, Ernest Beaux, and Chanel's current "Master Perfumer", Jacques Polge. The twelfth addition, Beige, references Mademoiselle's love of combining red and navy with beige. "I take refuge in beige," she once remarked, "because it's natural."
The Fashiontribes Fragrance Editor, Michelyn Camen, recently tested Beige:
Through the association of symbols, numbers, addresses, artifacts and now color with perfumery unique to Mademoiselle Chanel, the House's focus on unveiling its illustrious past is evident in Beige. It opens with the signature blast of aldehydes, which I ‘breathe through’. Next is a white soft floral accord, a bouquet of hawthorn, freesia and frangipani, the last of which is most beautiful on my skin. But it is the drydown that is the revelation, figuratively shimmering with a golden amber honey accord. It is sensual and subtle, but absolutely NOT neutral. Of the on nine women I tested Beige on - ranging in age, skin type, and ethnicity - Beige took on the personality and skin chemistry of each wearer, and they unanimously agreed, "I AM Beige!" From the palest ecru to the darkest honey, Beige is a "looking glass" fragrance that takes on the personality of each wearer.
Although Polge may not have as many interpretations for the word "beige" as eskimos have for "snow", there are still plenty, depending on the wearer...which Beige is sure to please: as close to ‘a your skin but better fragrance’ as Chanel will ever create. Available at Chanel.com.
