Hip Hemp from Viridis Luxe Will Keep it Green Even as the Colors change this Fall

Eco_chic_viridis_luxe_2 Enviro-chic label Viridis Luxe recently unveiled the fall collection of luxe hemp/cashmere blends, bamboo & organic cotton and bamboo/cashmere/silk. Inspired by costume history, the Paris scene between the wars, the boldness of artist/designer Sonia Delaunay, German Expressionism, the punk rock movement of the 70's, and tribal textiles/kilims, and 20th century bias-goddess Vionnet, designer Hala Bahmet has created an eco-chic autumn palette in shades of paprika, fern, beet, black, pebble gray, aubergine, lapis, and espresso.

Eco_chic_viridis_luxe_4 "The Fall 2008 silhouettes continue the Viridis Luxe theme of juxtaposing old and new, timeless shapes with modern, edgy details," explains Bahmet, who found herself inspired by hemp - an historic fiber which never requires herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers, does not deplete the soil of nutrients, and grows quickly with little or no irrigation. Hemp not only yields three to five times the amount that a cotton crop does, but the resulting fabric is durable and drapes well.

Celeb fans include Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Sheryl Crow, Paris Hilton, Julianne Moore, Rachel Bilson, and Uma Thurman.
