"Designing for Moncler is a little like making the iPod for Apple," explains Valli, who succeeded Alessandra Fachinetti after her move to Valentino, debuting his signature trapeze and bell shapes with luxurious touches of embroidery, feathers, and lace. "It's an item, not a total look, so there have to be choices." Like an iPod, many of the pieces are super-versatile; unlike an iPod, his premiere collection for Moncler Gamma Rouge can cost in the thousands.
