Superheroes Save the Met
Wonder Woman, She-Ra, and Jean Grey kick bad-guy butt and looked good doing so, and fashion was on the sidelines, taking notes. With Vogue's Anna Wintour and designer Giorgio Armani as co-hosts, the Met's Harold Koda has curated Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. Avant-garde haute couture, high-performance sportswear, and actual movie costumes will be on display to spark dialogue about fashion's superheroism in empowering and transforming the human body. Part of the exhibition's equally heroic aim is to study "the symbolic and metaphorical associations between fashion and the superhero."
More deets on saving the world through fashion at the Costume Institute at Metropolitan Museum through September 1, 2008 at MetMuseum.org.
