DKNY uses Manga Illustrator Paul Pope to Look into its Fashionable Future
Set in 2089, a century after DKNY was created, Paul Pope's capsule collection of tees, jackets and hoodies depicts a futuristic love story of sci-fi melded with pre-history against the backdrop of industry colliding with nature. Translation: updated camouflage, graphic comic book'esque jacket linings, and striking images like a delicate butterfly alighting on the fingertip of a mechanical robotic hand.
Fusing comics with fashion is a timely theme the stately Met Museum Costume Institute even acknowledged formally with their Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibit.
