Brightly hued, oversize, and practical bags were a huge fashion story for spring, and this gorge tomato red leather tote easily fits the bill...as well as books, a laptop, or the contents of a small room. Faves of the Malbec quaffing, polo playing, leather loving denizens of the Paris of South America, these bags are handcrafted in the workshop of the Buenos Aires-based luxury leather goods company Qara.
"The name Qara (Quechua for leather) highlights Argentina's longstanding tradition of leather-working which predates the Columbian period and has been perfected over the centuries," explains Amanda Knauer, a New Jersey native who ditched the NYC grind a mere year out of college, headed on a South American adventure, and then promptly cancelled her return ticket to found the company. "With such a wealth of experience, we wouldn't dream of mass producing our goods. In our own workshop, where during breaks employees can bee seen receiving massages or twisted in esoteric yoga positions, highly-skilled artisans handcraft our breathtaking products." Available at Qara.com.
