Fall 2008 Fashion Week: Marchesa Channels Golden Age Splendor
Inspired by the iconography of the 16th Century, Marchesa evoked the excess and gilded elegance of the Golden Age - a time marked by the drama of the Spanish Armada, legendary monarchs, and the clash of the lavish Spanish style and Elizabethan renaissance. Stila makeup artist Talia Shobrook updated the stylized Elizabethan vibe with lush, rich hues and an angelic, almost dreamy, complexion.
To get the look, stila offers up this handy crib sheet:
Pale, Matte Skin Apply stila sheer pressed powder, followed by stila perfecting concealer to areas in need of more coverage.
Smokey Eyes, Dramatic Lashes & Brows Apply stila eye shadow in Chinois to brow bone; along the bottom lash line and in the eyelid crease, apply Bouquet and Kamet. Line the lower outer rim with kajal liner in Smoky Quartz. Sweep major lash mascara in brown over lashes and in black to tips of lashes. Finally, fill in brows with Brow Set.
Natural, Flushed Cheeks To create a pale flush against pale skin, use fingertips to apply new Cherry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain to the high apples of the cheeks, blending out until the color is diffused into a soft stain.
Shiny, Saturated Lips Create rosy color by applying Cherry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain directly to lips. Then use fingertips to dab on a topcoat of SPF 20 lipstick in Caicos.
