Fall 2008 Fashion Week: Eventide Rocks the Russian Constructivist Era
"For Fall/Winter 2008, we wanted to take a journey filled with Russian spies, Rock and Roll, and High Art," explain Sarah Spratt (who previously worked for artist Nayland Blake creating sewn sculptures) and Christian Stroble, the design duo behind Eventide. "We have aspired to create segue from classic elegance to the modern day woman." Ramona from Bumble & Bumble updated the funky 80s single ponytail worn high up and on one side by rolling half of the hair under chignon-style, and leaving the other half pin-straight and free-flowing. Dark, dramatic eyes and lips by Kevin Mendelson for Jane Iredale complemented the clothes - deep burgundy, black and teal crafted in the style of the Russian constructivist era where tailored suits, dresses, tops and bottom were crucial to completing any secret mission in high style (which is no doubt why uber-socialite/fashionista Tinsley Mortimer found her way below 14th Street to grace the front row).
