For Threads that Showcase Instead of Reveal, Indie Designer Christa Taylor Has the Goods
Frustrated by the lack of chic, non-sleazy threads, Christa Taylor decided to launch her own line. "It all started when I imagined a store committed to modesty that was full of beautiful, stylish apparel for young women," explains the 20 year old entrepreneur about her designs which resist social pressures to be revealing. "I was exasperated by the one option our culture presents: sexy."
Instead, she looked to classic icons like Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Onassis Kennedy, and Princess Diana for style inspiration...and to dad for help forming her own company. "Baby step by baby step we designed and furnished a website, made contacts in the fashion industry for manufacturers, designers etc. and launched January of last year." Her two sisters, brother, and brother-in-law have since joined Taylor, turning it into a family affair. "Christa has a unique vision and phenomenal talent. We're all in support!" enthuses a proud dad.
He is also no doubt proud that his designing daughter is dedicating a minimum of 30% of the profits to socially just causes, like the Cambodian orphanage she is currently sponsoring. "I want to see the business make an enduring impact across the world."
Prices range from an incredibly affordable $6 for a bangle to $100 for a cute coat at Christa-Taylor.com.
