Celebrate the Year 4706 with Chinese New Year's Resolutions
It's only a few weeks into 2008, and yet, somehow, those freshly-minted resolutions are already a distant memory. Fortunately, there are second acts, even with resolutions, thanks to the myriad of other new years (including Jewish & Wiccan) to choose from. Chinese New Year is February 7, and Dr. Maoshing Ni - a 38th generation Chinese medicine practitioner with clients like Denzel Washington, Sheryl Crow, Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey - has this advice for a healthy, weathy and wise year of the Rat:
- A FRESH SLATE This year is one of new beginnings in political, economic and social cycles, so it's a good time to hop on a new health, fitness or financial discipline kick.
- GO GREEN 2008 corresponds with the elements of Earth and Water, so the effects of global warming may step up. Do your bit by buying green.
- EAT BETTER 2008 also corresponds with the digestive and hormonal/kidney systems - catch catch the wave by eating more mindfully. Have smaller meals more frequently, and avoid what you know you're supposed to avoid, ie. anything that can be described as greasy, rich, fatty, highly processed, artificial, additive, preservative, fried, or worse, deep-fried. Good, digestive-friendly foods include black beans, walnuts & blueberries. Your digestive organ network is already under daily assault, so treading lightly with added sugar and sugar substitutes goes a long way to staving off obesity, diabetes, unstable energy, and moodiness.
- GET OFF YO' BUTT Try tai chi, qigong and yoga.
Dr. Ni, the Natural Health Expert

and Western medicine. According to his lifestyle approach, well-being as a result of more than just exercise, and includes a balanced life which includes positive emotions, a happy home, and spiritual growth. Available at Amazon.com.
