"Sex and the City" Movie Update: Michael Patrick King Signs on to Direct...but No Stars as of Yet. FASHIONTRIBES FASHION BLOG

According to the MTV Movies Blog, the Emmy-winning executive producer of the HBO series will be making his movie debut, tentatively scheduled to start filming this fall. "Michael Patrick King was kind of the creative force behind that show, [and] he's going to be writing and directing the movie," enthuses series regular Mario Cantone (aka Anthony Marantino, Charlotte's fabulously flamboyant wedding planner). "I've known him for 24 years. He was always very brilliant. I think he's one of the best writers and directors in television. With him at the helm, it should be damn good."

However, what - or who  - will he be helming? "They called me about my availability, but nothing’s negotiated," confesses Cantone, noting that none of the show's stars have yet signed on the dotted line. "€œHopefully if all the negotiations go well, it will happen in the fall. HBO'€™s just gotta give everybody what they want. It better get done cause I want to do it."
