Ralph Lauren Fragrances Sponsors a Fab Luncheon at Morton's to Support the National Resources Defense Council (NDRC) Action Forum & Their Efforts to Save Your Mother Earth - & Also Launch RL's New "Pure Turquoise" - FASHIONTRIBES BEAUTY & FASHION BLOG
I've always been fond of people & companies that support good causes without having to pull a Donald & loudly announce it to the world in twelve foot high neon letters.
Ralph Lauren Fragrances, it turns out, is very non-Donald in their support of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Action Forum. Founded in 2001 by Elizabeth Wiatt and Laurie David, the NRDC Action Forum is a sophisticated and strategic advocacy team of politically aware activists. They fight for the environmental protections that the NRDC (NRDC.org) - over 1 million members strong - has worked on for the last 30 years, including:
- establishing & defending our country’s critical framework of environmental laws
- protecting the planet's wildlife & wild places
- maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all living things
With strategies like their BioGems Initiative - which works to protect endangered special places throughout the Americas (SaveBiogems.org) - they compile an annual list of 12 pristine places stretching from Alaska to Patagonia which are under serious and immediate threat, and use both advocacy and e-activism to save them. By combining world-class lawyers, scientists and policy experts, the NRDC has created one of the nation's most savvy and effective strategies for safeguarding public health and precious natural resources.
On September 30th, 2005 at the famed Morton's restaurant in Los Angeles, the NRDC Action Forum & Ralph Lauren Fragrances hosted an EcoSalon luncheon - the lunch & use of Morton's was generously donated by NRDC board member Peter Morton - to increase awareness of the BioGems. In addition to NRDC Action Forum co-founders Elizabeth Wiatt & Laurie David, other Tinseltown glitterati who attended to demonstrate their support for the NRDC's efforts included Mandy Moore, Christine Lahti, Christa Miller, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Daphne Zuniga, Gigi Grazer & Gabrielle Reece.
The luncheon - & how I love that word, it's just so much more faaaaaabulous than a mere lunch - was also used for beauty purposes...which we're strongly in favor of here at Fashiontribes. Ralph Lauren Fragrances, which sponsored said luncheon, also used the event to introduce their brand spankin' new fragrance PURE TURQUOISE, an exotic floral packaged in a collectible glass bottle topped with a silver cap & a one-of-a-kind chunk of turquoise. The potion itself is available as a parfum, an Eau de Parfum spray, a body lotion & shower gel & is a fab melange of something I could definitely use more of in my daily life:
- beauty - with ingredients like Dewy Cassis & Lily of the Valley
- mystery - Night Blooming Cereus & Desert Lily
- magic - the very Middle Earth'ish Silver Birch Wood & Earthen Patchouli
According to Ralph Lauren, "There is a mystery about the woman. When she wears Pure Turquoise her beauty, power and elegance are revealed.” Sounds good to me. Available at Polo.com.
