RESTRICTED-THURSDAY NIGHTS AT LIT (93 2nd Avenue btw. 5th and 6th)
Lit, a legendary East Village Rock'n'Roll bar, plays host to DJ Punk Ass Jason Thursdays, with a really good variety of rock and such. Think anything from AC/DC to Velvet Underground. Tonight (May 5th) there will be a listening session for reissues of The Cure's first 4 albums-Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography-at 10 p.m. (when the party starts weekly). Stick around until 1 a.m. and have a crack at walking away with your own copy of the reissues. $1 well vodka drinks and Budweiser bottles from 11:00pm – midnight, plus $3 Rheingolds ALL night. Rumor has it Jimmy Fallon is amongst the ranks who like to show up....
BANG-WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT NO. 1 CHINESE(50 Ave B @ 4th St.)
Newly inagurated, Bang has about the coolest party location ever. The music is fun (last time I went i heard Bowie and Violent Femmes), the people are cool, and the free Svedka drinks are 2 hours long-10 p.m. to 12 p.m.
ROCK AND ROLL DJ EXCHANGE-MONDAY NIGHTS AT MAGNETIC FIELD (97 Atlantic Ave. btw. Henry and Hicks, Brooklyn)
Mondays from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. is the time to break out your inner rock DJ. You can sign up for 30 minutes on the decks-but you better wow the crowd. Bring down your best in punk, power-pop, indie-rock, etc. — on vinyl or CD, iPOD or laptop, but Magnetic Field sayeth-no Hip Hop or techno!
ROCK & ROLL KARAOKE-MONDAY AT ARLENE'S GROCERY (95 Stanton btw. Ludlow and Orchard)
Want more fame than just being the DJ? Be the lead singer of your very own rock band (ok, it's only temporary) with the weekly Monday Night Live Band Karaoke. ANything classic that your little heart desires, from Cheese ZEP (and Lesley loves Zep), can be crooned. Just don't bust our eardrums.

Hung over beyond belief? Fearing the wrath of yer mum when you have missed another Mothers Day? Fear Not. There is a pre-Mother's Day Chocolate Tasting at Balducci's Food Lover's Market. On Saturday, May 7, from 2pm-5pm, Balducci's will host a Chocolate Festival, featuring samples from
some of the world's finest chocolates including Fritz Knipschildt, Christopher Norman, Scharffen Berger, Cluizel, and Jacques Torres. Chocolate is an anti-oxidant, so that should cure your hangover right? If not, just knock back a pre-mom shot of whiskey!
