Wine Wednesdays is here just in time to help you with all of your Cinco de Mayo needs! Everyone knows that May 5th is the designated day to swill margaritas until you can't see straight, and here at Fashiontribes, we are ready for your margarita consumption needs!
Kick off your evening with a Margarita tasting at Mi Cocina. Distillerie Stock is sponsoring the event at 57 Jane Street in the West Village, which will be featuring GranGala Triple Orange Liqueur and the Margarita Desnudo. Platos Tipicos of Mexico and a comparative tasting of orange liqueur round out the events, which commence at 4 pm. Leave work, get a little tipsy, and go finish off your days festivities. You deserve a break!
After the tasting, head on over to Los Dos Molinos. Apparently, they have the best Margarita in NYC. Located at 119 E. 18th Street, they are in perfect range for a full night of barhopping festivities. No better place to knock a few back!
Not interested in going out all night? Afraid you will miss work on Friday? Fashiontribes has a whole list of things you need for your own margarita party a casa! Start with some glasses- We love Crate and Barrel's Miami Glasses for their adorable stripes stem and Florida feel. Want more colour in your life? Try their Samba glasses and matching pitcher-perfect for puring it out all night long. In vibrant red-orange, the set will add some spice to your fiesta. Mix in some cheap glass wear (let's face it-tequila + glassware + party= broken glasses) from tequila-spot. Their Cactus stem versions definitely add a Mexican Flair to your evening, and if one breaks, you won't cry!
Now that your table is all set, you need the liquid gold. A blender-like Cuisinart's modern looking silver one from Crate and Barrel-will help you whip up a masterpiece in no time. Grab Viva Margarita, the ultimate manual for every Margarita version possible, and have your friends jealous of your innovative blends. Don't forget to salt the rim of each glass- and Margarita worth it's salt has a coated rim. Crate and Barrel has a perfect mix of salt and lime to boost the flavour of your bevy. Finally, top it all off with a little drink umbrella. It's all in the presentation!
BTW-My personal Favorite is Mangorita, and Bobby Flay of Food Network Fame has the best:
1 1/4 ounces silver tequila
1-ounce triple sec
1 1/2 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 ounces simple syrup or sweet-and-sour mix
3/4 cup partially frozen mango, unsweetened (prefer individual quick frozen or fresh)
Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into a hurricane-style glass.
Hope you called out of work for Friday!
