Gianfranco Ferre Launches Ferre EDP- Fashiontribes.com Beauty Buzz Blog!

Ferre Profumi launches Ferre Eau de Parfum!  Gianfranco Ferre' is known throughout the world for  superbly  styled clothing for men and women as well as accessories and now fragrances! Typical of his  couture aethete, he walks a fine line between fantasy, rigor and reality.

The Ferre Eau de Parfum is for the woman who balances her femininity with a sophistication and almost aristocratic beauty. She knows who she is and while aware of her style and place in the world, she's also not afraid to challenge herself and her life.   His scent revolves around Iris Florentina found in the countryside between Florence and Arezzo, Italy.  This particular iris is the only flower of its' species to be used for fragrances.  The distinctive oil from the root  is extremely sensuous and is the essence of the Ferre' fragrance!

Top Notes: bergamot, honeydew melon, and pineapple for a fruity yet vibrant opening to underscore  launch of the Iris and ylang ylang notes

Heart Notes: rich floral notes of iris flower along with freesia, magnolia, rose and jasmine make this a most feminine fragrance

Base Notes: Iris is the base to complete the troika in the form of  aged iris root essence for a striking base that is also driven with sandalwood, Basmati rice, amber and vanilla to create an intriguing warmth.

This powdery floral makes for an unusual scent and could be used year-round.

The crystal glass bottle features a soft shoulder and regal body that embrace and emphasize the  FERRE style.

Chantecaille Flys In Spring Beauty-- Fashiontribes Beauty Buzz Blog!

Chantecaille Spring Color Collection  06—The Season of Femininity.

Inspired by the spring fashion collections and the “return of the dress” to fashion along with delicate fabrics of lace, chiffon and linen featured in natural tones as well as more intense colors,  Olivia Chantecaille looked East to Japanese gardens for her  palette. Seen as a sacred, intimate setting, the Japanese garden is a symbol of the feminine power of creation.

With that in mind, and finding “like-minded” designs in the collections of Lanvin and his Japanese Obi style dresses and Paco Rabanne’s deconstructed kimonos, the colors and even the palettes have that essential Japanese influence.

Chant_spring_face

Again using the image of the butterfly as the soul of rebirth, renewal and transformation, the collections feature this popular symbol.  The Spring 06 collection also has a serious side too. The American butter fly—the Monarch Butterfly- is now on the endangered species list. The “miracle migration”  of the Western Monarch Butterfly has signaled its arrival in California with amazing  flashes of orange color against the early autumnal skies. The fragile ecosystem of the winter home of these beautiful insects (Mexico and California) has been disrupted by logging and  deforestation. Coupled with an increase in global warming, the death rate of these gorgeous –and necessary to the ecological chain—creatures has skyrocketed.  The particular plant where the female butterfly lays her eggs is seen as a weed and is killed with herbicides.

Chantecaille’s  Spring 06 collection seeks to protect the Monarch Butterfly habitat by donating a portion of all sales to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Foundation which was established in 1997 by scientists and educators seeking to rebuild, revive and replace the habitats.

So you can not only benefit yourself by purchasing these great products but also help the environment and endangered species too. \

For Spring 06, the color collection features a new palette.

The Garden in Kyoto Palette features a Willow Eye Shade duo papillon with a mint green background and a brown butterfly with gold details.  The Cherry Blossom Cheek Shade is a rose ground with a bright pink butterfly with golden surface detailing . The  Dragon Fruit Lip gloss is a natural fresh pink that is a universally suitable tone.

All  colors are packed in a 3 well palette and will be available mid-February for $79.00

Along with the new palette, three new lip sheers are being included in this collection—fresh, clean lively color perfectly suited for spring 06 fashions and faces!!

Aphrodite – a beautiful pink

Flare – a soft wearable red

Each lip color is soft, sheer and moisturizing on the lips. Available mid-February for $26.00

NYFW Fall 2006 Beauty Trends: Fashiontribes.com Beauty Buzz Blog and Podcast!

powered by Audioblog.com

MP3 File

Hola! Happy Sunday and now that NYFW for Fall 2006 is over -- with just remnants of things being done, it's time to take a look at the trends of what's coming at you for Fall 2006. What!!!!   FALL? NOW?? Am I crazy?  To be honest, I am a touch loopy but given that the shows give you a sneak peek at what's coming, it's best to review while it's still fresh.

In past seasons, it's been neutral lips (with a few notable exceptions) and smoked out eyes playing up the drama.  Fall 2006 is quite different! It's not the same old same old-- and thank godness for that! I am so glad to see the smokey eye taking a backseat and being seen at shows like Baby Phat, Badgely Mischka and a couple others mentioned in the podcast.

What's unique here is the consideration of great skin being the palette, sometimes it's a flushed cheek but typically the cheeks are very sheer and very light. The lip is  more important: it's rosier  and paired with well -defined eye and brow.   Wear lots of mascara, even false lashes with a wash of color on eyelids.

Now given that the smokey eye isn't entirely gone-- and never will be, you can tweak that look with  a different color smoked out--think green, violet, lilac, grey, camel, bronze for smokey eyes

For the DVF red  lip that was on every model, go for the red mouth. Just make sure you have a very polished face, a more neutral-yet defined-- eye with lots of lashes and a very precise lined lip.
If you want a softer look in red, dab on the color with the tip of the lip stick and pat it into place with a fingertip or use a lip brush to sheer it out and then apply a bit more color of a bit of glossy to give you a less fussy, just-bitten look .

What you  need to do is find a couple of deeper pink, rose or soft red shades that work for your skintone. Visit various counters at various stores. Lines to check out include Vincent Longo, Stila, BioTherm, Shiseido, Julie Hewett (she has phenomenal reds),  NARS,  Pout  ( great glosses), MAC,  TooFaced for a range of hues that will work.  Play with these colors at the counter. Divide your mouth into quarters and apply a different color on each quarter.. take a good look and choose one. OR swatch colors in your kit and take them to the counter and see what you can do with them in terms of pencils, glosses --to make them more glossy and less matte. Think rich moisture, dewy lips-- not so matte and hard.

Personally, I would recommend a shade of pencil, creamy lipcolor or gloss in medium to darker pink, rose and red-- some with a glossy finish; some with sparkle, some with shimmer. Mix and match to create your own unique color blend.

As soon as I get photos of fall colors, I will insert them into the story but at this point, NO ONE has fall images to hand out.  I will be pulling some NYFW images to insert here though for reference.

While it seems too soon to be thinking about fall hues,  the colors for spring and summer 2006  will absolutely blend perfectly into fall 2006. So start looking for unique shades that you would be willing to wear for a year-- and different ways of tweaking the presentation. It's more than just common sense-- it's beauty sense!

See you at the beauty counter!

Spring 06 Minimalist Beauty thanks to Prescriptives: Fashiontribes Beauty Buzz Blog!

One of the joys of being a girl is that we can 1) wear great things-- lots of fun clothes and 2) wear lots of great make-up and  look all girly thanks to lip glosses and shadows. But typically it can take an hour just to do hair and makeup and at least about 20-30 mins to get dressed IF you planned ahead!! No one wants to spend all day doing hair, makeup and getting dressed-- I mean have you been WATCHING the weather reports here in LA? It's  gorgeous weather and perfectly ripe for all things spring!

Heck I try but am not always successful-- at trying to slim down that routine but Prescriptives to the rescue!! Their spring collection -- Modern Rose

Panel3_modernrose

actually rocks my world! Why? Because when you see the products and how easily this can be done, you will be blown away.

First things first is great skincare! You use what you want but if you haven't seen the latest and greatest moisturizers and rebuilders for skin and eyes from Prescriptives--where have you been? Check them out while you are the counter or online!

Second thing is the great foundation choices that PX (shorthand for Prescriptives) has. You can get custom match or at least make sure you are color-printed to get the best match. Me? I am a Warm Gold--read Y/O and you have me nailed. . Perfect matches and I love to get foundations with light coverage. Photochrome is a favorite because it adjusts and looks flawless. I have other faves but that's the one that does double/triple duty

Get past that foundation with a blend of a foundation brush or sponge and make sure skin looks blended well.

Move fast into color and check out the Colorscopes pressed powder shadows for eyes!

Px_36ce_r200_1

Talk about heaven in a colorbox!! These super creamy powder shadows slide on so easily that you don't need a brush --unless you want precision. With Matte, Shimmer and Hi-Shimmer, you have LOTS of choices. Don't let lines or dry skin around the eyes fool you into thinking you can't wear these shadows,--you can! These silky shadows go on easily; don't crease and are perfect for the spring metallic look without overdoing it. Knowing your Color Print code is key, don't let it stop you from trying great colors that catch your eye--and attention! I loved  Frosting,  and  Bronze..  which made a great combo --but then I played with  Bordeaux  and  Flamingo and those were gorge.. Then I started crossing them together and used the Bordeaux as a liner and the Flamingo on the brow bone.. HOT HOT HOT!! Be creative .. think outside the box..

And while you are outside that box, check out the  Moonbeam Reflective Eye Color which is  tube liquid color for your eyes for that liquid metallic look that will rock your summer.

Moonbeam_g_cream_shadow_1

This creamy, liquid color shadow blends easily,--stays put-- without smudging and gives you glorious shimmer, shine and metallic all in one.  Available in a slew of colors, I picked out  Solar Gold because it goes with the other shadows well and can be used as a base, blended out as a wash or will razzle dazzle for night.

Don't forget your lips!! With all this shimmer color, lips need definition and if you want to go glossy, now's the time!

Moonbeam_gloss

Moonbeam Gloss is a great choice because 1) great gloss and 2) fab color choices from bold to soft. You can make your eyes the focal point or you can make your lips the star depending on the color. Want to soften the color? Apply with a brush. Want that bold glossy lips that everyone loves? Use it straight from the wand. Don't be SHY!!  There are lots of colors  I chose Planetary -- I know it's not in my color range but I can tweak this color with pencils and also just a smidge on my cheeks for a  pinky glow over a coraly or bronze blush.  The shimmer in the tube makes for nice sparkling highlights!

So, you can get away with a foundation, 2 to 4 powder shadows, one lip gloss, and a creamy eye shadow. All you need is a fab mascara ( False Eyelashes Mascara anyone??), a great eye pencil  (  Moonbeam Reflective Eyeliner-- get the Beaming Plum   for a unique contrast to the gold or bronze colors and to blend with the pink or bordeaux. ). Add in a shimmery blush like their new Powder Leaves and voila! you are done.

Now --by using fingers, you can slick on eye colors, and blend cheeks, dab on gloss, then whip out that pencil, apply mascara and smudge on some powder. Done in about 12 minutes.

Now that's FAST!! It's easy, It's Prescriptives, Baby!!

See you at the beauty counter!
